Orthohelix Mini Variable Angle Locking Screw

OrthoHelix Surgical Designs, Inc. continues to offer new options for locking screw fixation. According to thier website, OrthoHelix has received FDA clearance to market the new mini variable angle locking screw option.

The Tribrid™ Technology utilized by the Mini MaxLock Extreme^® plates, accommodates fixed angle locking, non-locking, and mini variable angle locking screws. This enables surgeons all three screw options in one set and allows them to decide intraoperatively which screw option is best fitted for the patient. New Tribrid Technology from OrthoHelix

OrthoHelix Surgical Designs Inc. has recently launched a variable angle locking screw option.  The new Tribrid™ Technology incorporated into the MaxLock Extreme® plates offered from OrthoHelix allows for the use of non-locking, fixed angle locking and now, variable angle locking screws.  With the addition of a PEEK ring (made from PEEK-OPTIMA® polymer, by Invibio Biomaterial Solutions) the hole in the plate allows for a variable angle locking screw to be inserted creating a locked construct.  The screw can be inserted with up to 30 degrees of conical freedom.  The PEEK ring comes with a disposable driver designed to fit with the 3.5mm variable angle locking screw.

OrthoHelix Surgical Designs recently launched the new variable angle locking screw option. Read more about the new design, but to summarize the news:

OrthoHelix's plates now contain Tribrid™ Screw Technology that accommodates fixed angle locking, non-locking, and variable angle locking screws without compromising the strength of any of the locking holes. Once the 3.5mm variable angle locking screw is inserted into the PEEK ring, it interfaces with the PEEK ring to create a locked construct with up to 30º of conical freedom.
